How this site works

Each group here is its own site: its members' posts and comments, and nothing else. There are no friends, no follows, no ads, and no tracking. Your email address is used only to sign you in (and for notifications, if you turn them on); nobody else sees it, including moderators.

What's written automatically

Some of what you see is produced automatically, with AI, from members' posts:

• Related-post notes ("Earlier discussion", "Newer information") that connect threads on the same subject, and are kept up to date as those threads continue.
• Quick answers in search: short statements of what earlier threads say about your question, each linking to its thread.
• Thread summaries and the group FAQ, built from the group's own threads, each with links to its sources.
• A first pass at moderation: content that looks like spam or abuse can be hidden for moderators to review, and borderline content is flagged for members to vote on. Moderators make the final call and can undo anything.

This text reports what members' posts say, with links so you can check. It doesn't give advice, and it doesn't speak for anyone. If something is wrong, the group's moderators can fix it, and members can say so.

Where it runs

The AI runs on this site's own computers. No post, comment, or search is sent to an outside AI service. When the AI looks at posts, it doesn't see who wrote them: authors appear to it only as "the original poster" or "commenter 2", so it can't reveal who wrote an anonymous post. Search questions aren't stored, unless you tap "Not what I was looking for", which saves that one search so the answers can be improved.

Groups decide

Each group's owners choose whether it uses these features at all. Groups that turn them off get plain search and nothing written automatically.

Deleting

When you delete a post or comment, it disappears at once. It's kept out of sight for 30 days so a mistake can be undone, then erased. Posts that moderators remove are kept for 90 days in case of an appeal.
